Why is the Fremont Bridge Blue and Orange?
The Fremont Historical Society's annual display at the Fremont Branch Library features "What the Bridge Has Seen." Learn about the history and relocation of the Fremont Tavern/Red Door building, the growth of maritime businesses, why the Fremont Bridge is painted blue and orange (including the role of the FNC in continuing that tradition), options for the route of the Burke-Gilman Trail through Fremont, changes along the canal from lumber mill to the current Lake Union Center, and the history of B.F. Day School.
Reception and Program: On Saturday, May 11th,at 11:00 a.m., Fremont Historical Society folks will be on hand to chat aboutthe display.

The program followsat 12:00 p.m. and will feature a talk by Seattle Department of Transportation’sRoadway Structures Manager Matt Donohue on the Fremont Bridge, the work of bridgetenders, and the experiences of those who worked on the construction of theFremont Bridge. Free refreshments.
